SUREedge® Methodology
SUREedge® removes the complexity associated with migrating and DR. It enables IT personnel to follow a planned, controlled operation of migration and DR.
This allows you to capture ANY system image and recover to any hypervisor on Nutanix. Additionally, you can set different IP addresses, vCPU, and memory while recovering. Furthermore, SUREedges®’s capability to do incremental capture and update allows to you migrate, test, apply final incremental update, and cut-over with minimal or zero down-time. SUREedge®’s ultra-bandwidth friendly DeDupe replication also allows customers provide DR from remote locations to a centralized datacenter powered by Nutanix.

Enterprises typically have a heterogeneous environment running applications on physical systems as well as virtualized applications with different hypervisors. Nutanix’s infrastructure platform gives customers the choice of using its native Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV), VMware’s vSphere, or Microsoft Hyper-V.

How does It Work?
SUREedge® Migrator is installed on an NX node as a VM. You then add list of systems, physical or VMs to be migrated. Next you would create plans to move the systems in batches. You then execute the plan.
This allows you to capture ANY system image and recover to any hypervisor on Nutanix. Additionally, you can set different IP addresses, vCPU, and memory while recovering. Furthermore, SUREedge®’s capability to do incremental capture and update allows to you migrate, test, apply final incremental update, and cut-over with minimal or zero down-time.

SUREedge® DR can be used to combine your Nutanix private cloud environment with other virtualization solutions (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) to create a heterogeneous DR solution for your virtual systems. Carefully integrated with Nutanix’s hyperconverged infrastructure, SUREedge® DR allows you to use your Nutanix cluster either as the source or target for DR operations. After a simple deployment on both platforms, SUREedge® DR efficiently captures and transfers system images between the environments and when called upon orchestrates recovery, automatically transforming your workload images to run in the target environment. SUREedge® DR allows you to most efficiently leverage your private cloud technologies and resources and keeps your critical workloads running uninterrupted in the face of a wide variety of disasters.
Cloud to Nutanix
SUREedge® DR can be combined with your Nutanix private cloud environment to provide a cloud-based comprehensive DR solution. This enables you to use a public cloud to serve as a failover environment for your Nutanix-based workloads and to use your Nutanix cluster as the target for your cloud-based workloads. SUREedge® DR can efficiently capture system images in either environment, and its deduplication technology reduces the amount of data transfer between sites to a bare minimum, reducing your WAN bandwidth requirements and expenses. Leveraging its transformation technologies SUREedge® DR automatically adjusts system images to run in their new environment, adapting to differing storage formats, networking settings, switching platform agents, and handling any other differences required by the target infrastructure. In this way, you can effectively leverage your cloud and on-site resources to keep your critical processes running.
